WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A HODD, BARNES & DICKINS EYE EXAMINATION
Our eye examination typically lasts up to 40 minutes. If any specific tests are necessary, we will inform you in advance about their duration whenever possible. In addition to evaluating your vision and addressing any vision-related issues, such as the need for glasses or contact lenses, we also screen for potential eye conditions like Glaucoma, Cataracts, and Macular Degeneration.
Hodd, Barnes & Dickins optometrists undergo continuous training and maintain connections with eye hospitals, ensuring our patients benefit from the latest research findings on eye-related problems. The optometrist will always provide explanations for the results of various assessments, and you will have ample opportunity to ask any questions you may have. The recommendations offered at the conclusion of the eye exam by Hodd, Barnes & Dickins Opticians will consider factors such as your work environment, lifestyle, and leisure activities, enabling us to meet your visual needs in the most effective manner.
HOW FREQUENTLY SHOULD I UNDERGO AN EYE EXAMINATION?
We recommend regular eye tests for everyone, including children, even if you are not experiencing any vision issues. Typically, we advise people to get their eyes tested once a year because we only have one set of eyes, so why delay? The maximum period between examinations should not exceed 2 years.
WHAT DOES IT ENTAIL?
Rest assured that while undergoing an eye examination is a straightforward process, all our examinations are exceptionally thorough. Lasting around 40 minutes, one of our optometrists will conduct a detailed assessment covering various aspects of your vision and eye health.
During the examination, you'll be asked a series of questions about your vision, overall health, your family's health history, and your lifestyle. Your eye examination will be tailored to meet your specific visual requirements. While assessing your eyes, the optometrist will focus on the following:
- Vision quality with/without glasses
- Ability to focus effectively
- Eye muscle performance
- Internal eye health, ideally utilising our state-of-the-art OCT machine
- Front-of-eye health
- Pressure within the eye
- Your new prescription
- If necessary, additional tests for depth perception, colour vision, and visual field may also be conducted.
All our tests utilize the latest eye examination technology, and our optometrists will provide step-by-step explanations, ensuring you understand each stage of the process.
